Trauma at the Bowling Alley

We are in Atlanta for the yearly in-law visit and have already made our traditional visit to the Urgent Care. It seems like every year we come we end up there with someone for some sort of ailment. The last few times it was Britney and Grace, but this time it was Jack for a dual purpose visit, smashed pinky and cold nasty coughy stuff.

It started at the Bowling Alley yesterday when Jack was excited to roll his ball down the lane. He grabbed the 8 pounder, tripped and managed to fall and allow the ball to smash his pinky against the floor. Blood, tears, more blood, Dad freaking out, then Lucas picks up his ball mid-chaos and does the EXACT SAME THING, minus the blood and massive bruising. Lucas shook it off, but Jack was a mess and we ended up heading home to treat him. So to make a long story short, Jack didn't sleep all night, hacked and coughed from a previous cold, cried "it hurts, it hurts" and so we were off the Doc-in-a-box this morning. The diagnosis....No broken bones, but we should have brought him in yesterday for stitches (Britney feels like a bad parent). Double ear infection and massive cold. Sighh... I hope the next post is not about illness and hurting.

Santa and the Space Needle

While my brother Marc was in town we all went downtown to the Space Needle for the Santa brunch. While the food was a B-, the view and Santa were an A+. The Space Needle restaraunt rotates around 360 degrees every 47 minutes so you get a great view every minute of your meal. Santa flew around the Needle in a helicopter waving at the kids, then came in for pictures and activities.

Christmas Train in the Snow

Every year we go down to Redmond and ride the Christmas Train (really just a John Deere pulling a bunch of trailers made to look like train cars :-). This year was great since it had started to snow on the way their and so no one was outside. In Seattle if there is even a hint of snow coming people go to 'defcon level 4' in preparation of a massive disaster. As for me, we went out to dinner and rode the train. This next picture is the day after the snow, notice there is maybe an inch at most......

Weezie Lucas

Last night Lucas woke up around 9:30pm sounding like he had been smoking for every day of his 5 year life. Hack hack, weeeeez, hack, hack weeeeeez. It made me SUPER nervous because he was strugglin' so hard to breathe and because I HATE to see my kids uncomfortable (Yes, I make Britney crawl to the back of the car on road trips and make sure their heads aren't flopping around while sleeping). So we scooped him up and ran to the Doc-in-the-box. First diagnosis was Croop with possible Strep. After the breathing treatment and tests it was Strep. poor kid, he hated every minute of, so did I. (Apologies for the crappy camera phone photo).
